Toil, Toil, Boil, and Bubble...

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!

Toil, Toil, Boil, and Bubble...

2 more days until the New Year!

I'm getting ready to hold myself accountable to my resolution to get into my studio and get my butt in gear to create at least 3 times a week.

To prepare myself I'm hitting all the local craft and art suppliers/stores to stock up on necessities and not so necessary (sometimes those are the best kind!).

Hitting Esty and Ebay as well for great deals - although, no offense, I'm desperately trying to avoid buying directly from China and purchase from American sellers only -  keep it 'in house', ya know?

After the first of the year retail activity goes down so I'm expecting to find a lot of 'treasures' !

The anticipation of a new and fresh start is exciting!

I will be posting a list of new characters that I plan to create this year - and furthermore, to keep me in check - I will create a checklist on my Blog side bar to remind me daily to get my butt in gear and hold me accountable to my creativity resolution!

SO IT'S SO ON !!!

Toil, Toil, Boil, and Bubble...

As the New Year approaches I am resolved to commit to completing my resolutions for my health - mentally, physically, and spiritually.

I am also committing myself to get into my studio at least 3 times a week and create, create, create - which in turn will rehabilitate and rejuvenate my spirit, creativity, as well as  melt the stress that has been harboring me for years off!

To encourage you artists - those who choose to follow their own dreams, hearts and minds - I have chosen a few of Tim Burton's quotes to help inspire you to work with your hands and hearts!

“Half the fun is plan to plan”

― Tim Burton

“Visions are worth fighting for. Why spend your life making someone else's dreams?”

Tim Burton

“One person's craziness is another person's reality.”

 Tim Burton

“Maybe it’s just in America, but it seems that if you’re passionate about something, it freaks people out. You’re considered bizarre or eccentric. To me, it just means you know who you are.”

Tim Burton

“Every story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Not necessarily in that order.”

Tim Burton

Anybody with artistic ambitions is always trying to reconnect with the way they saw things as a child.

Tim Burton

I don't look at my films or my old drawings much, so that was an interesting way to kind of reconnect with myself a bit.

Tim Burton

Things that I grew up with stay with me. You start a certain way, and then you spend your whole life trying to find a certain simplicity that you had. It's less about staying in childhood than keeping a certain spirit of seeing things in a different way.

Tim Burton

It's hard to find logic in things sometimes. That's why I can't analyze things too much, because it often doesn't make much sense.

It's good as an artist to always remember to see things in a new, weird way.

It's over - the wait, anticipation, food, presents, decorations, and lights done and put away - crowded stores, malls, and parking lots will almost be back to normal - freeway congestion not as bad...

IT'S OVER...!

And although enjoyable, fun and festive - whew - I look forward to normality, less stress, calmness, and...

HALLOWEEN!

Have a Merry and Scary Christmas!!!

Toil, Toil, Boil, and Bubble...

Krampus 2015 - a movie that came out a few weeks ago has been compared to the gore, scare and "fun" as in the movie "Gremlins" (for those who are in my age generation) - but with better special effects and make-up and of course CGI.

Click HERE to watch a great video on You Tube showing the making of this Holiday Horror Story!

Some critics like it, some don't - I'm the type of movie go-er that if I get my $10-$15 worth of entertainment from watching the movie, I'm in and it's a thumbs up!

Visually this film (the pics below are from the movie and production stills of the creatures) LOOKS AMAZING. Creepy, weird, scary, and gruesome - such creativity! I read that actress Toni Collette was actually scared when filming the Evil Cherub scene in the attic - freaking her out for real!

Probably not the best Christmas movie for wee ones - but I also read it has a lesson at the end of the movie making sure everyone keeps the true meaning of Christmas in their hearts...

There's actually winter weather in Southern California right now (so far...!). WE LOVE IT!

Love the rain, love the winter clouds, love the cold - all to enjoy family time, cookies and cocoa, our wood burning fireplace roaring and crackling!

I love cooking - and soups are a specialty and a favorite of mine - I can eat soup daily, as long as there are YUMMY!

I love potato soup but hadn't really found one to gush over...UNTIL NOW!!

Found this recipe on the Internet from The Wicked Noodle - ingredients are easy, prep is easy, easy to make and create AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! Thick, creamy, cheesy, and POW!

Click HERE to take you to The Wicked Noodle for exact recipe - no doubt it will become a favorite in your home too!

Toil, Toil, Boil, and Bubble...

Well - I'm up and running (not literally - I couldn't run if my life depended on it - if ever a zombie apocalypse were to happen, I'll be eaten first because I have no skills or speed when pertaining to running!).

Finally got my NEW blog to where I want it - I may need to make a few tweaks here and there but it all looks good!

Not happy with Google Support - I have emailed them over 5x to find out why I cannot access my old blog (lilabbeysattic.blogspot.com) - all my business cards have the old blog addy - I lost all my followers and who I followed. Starting over just plain SUCKS.

But, with my health better, more time to create, and life at a slower pace I can start anew creating new creations, and maybe a new blog was also part of God's ultimate plan - ALL ANEW!

So, on your mark, get ready, and GO!

Toil, Toil, Boil, and Bubble...

Just FYI this Blog is under construction - I had a fabulous Blog (www.lilabbeysattic.blogspot,com)  that I hadn't been tending too for a while - went back on to start posting again and POOF it disappeared (I can't access it, although I can see it). Trying to get a hold of Google to fix the issue with the old Blog, but also decided to create a new one just in case they cannot fix the issue with the old - whew.

So be patient - it took me about a week to get the first one exactly how I wanted it - but it will be worth the wait!
